About

Paula Moreira began her career as a techie and has spent the last 15 years working in Information Technology (IT) education and career development. Prior to making the move from full time techie to helping others develop their IT careers, she was a technical instructor, systems engineer, and consultant for Novell. At Novell, Paula managed the Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) and Certified Novell Administrator (CNA) certifications. The CNE certification set the standard for professional accreditation and helped tens of thousands of IT professionals embark on a career in IT.

In 1998, Paula joined Prometric, the IT certification testing vendor and in 2000, Paula went on to become the Editor-in-Chief for Leapit.com, an IT community with over 100,000 members. It was at this time that she became Certification Magazine’s Careers Editor, a role she truly enjoyed for three years. During that time, Paula covered topics ranging from managing an IT career to managing up.

Based on the success of Paula’s monthly column for Certification Magazine, she was approached by McGraw Hill to build a series of career management books specifically for IT professionals. That’s how the “Ace” series began. To date, the books have sold over 30,000 copies and are in their second edition. The “Ace the IT Resume” book was released in June and the “Ace the IT Interview” book in December 2007.

In addition, to being an author, Paula is the global IT training manager for a large financial services organization. She and her team support the career development of over 2,000 IT professionals from technical training to professional development. What she enjoys most about her work is the day to day interactions she has with IT professionals and helping them develop and refine their skills for greater success.

Whether it’s helping them map out how to expand their technical expertise or coaching them on making the transition to technology management, Paula gets a lot of personal satisfaction in helping others connect with the boundless opportunities that a career in IT has to offer.

Paula lives in Southern California with her husband (an IT guy) and two doggies, Charger and Padre.
